Warriors To Compete For Fifth
At GLIAC Tournament

The Wayne State women's tennis dropped its opening match in the 2002 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament being held at the Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich. (Oct. 25-26).

The sixth-seeded Warriors fell 5-3 to the third-seeded Lakers of Grand Valley State during Friday morning's opening round.

Recording wins for WSU against GVSU were Natalya Natyshak at No. 1 singles, the first doubles team of Natyshak and Leila Armin, and the second doubles team of Katherine Lulgjuraj and Simona Iacoban.

In the afternoon, WSU rebounded for a 5-4 victory over seventh-seeded Michigan Tech.

Against the Huskies, WSU wins were recorded by Natyshak (No. 1 singles), Iacoban (No. 4 singles), Jackie Johnston (No. 5 singles), Monica Cushard (No. 6 singles) and the third doubles team of Johnston and Anna Hume.

Wayne State will face fifth-seeded Mercyhurst College in Saturday's fifth-place match on Saturday, Oct. 26.
