Warriors Finish Season 10-5 Overall

The Wayne State Women's Tennis squad completed its 2001 season with a 10-5 overall record, a 6-5 GLIAC mark, good enough for fifth place. The Warriors placed sixth at the GLIAC tournament. The overall victory total included wins over three Division I schools (Detroit, IUPU-Fort Wayne and Chicago State).

The Warriors had just one senior (Rachel Koskodon) on the squad. Koskodon compiled a 14-4 mark in singles play and a 13-4 record in doubles competition in earning honorable mention All-GLIAC accolades.

Junior Erika Pardon played No. 1 singles and had an 8-6 record including a 2-0 mark in the GLIAC tournament. Pardon was also named to the GLIAC All-League First Team.

Classmate Kathy Lugjuraj played No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles (with Simona Iacoban). Lugjuraj was selected to the GLIAC All-League Honorable Mention team.

Iacoban played No. 4 singles and compiled a team-best overall singles record of 13-3. Freshman Jackie Johnston played the No. 5 singles slot and teamed with freshman Anna Hume at No. 3 doubles for a 9-3 record. Sophomore Monica Cushard and Hume split time at the No. 6 singles slot.
