Warriors Split Series At Colgate

The WSU women's hockey team snapped its nine-game winless streak by defeating Colgate, 4-1, on Saturday (Nov. 17) in Hamilton, N.Y. The Warriors, after opening the season 2-0, had posted a 0-8-1 record in their last nine contests before tonight's victory. The Warriors will wrap-up weekend play at Elmira on Sunday (1 p.m.).

Going into the third period tied at 1-1, WSU managed to pull together three goals in the final 10 minutes of play to take the 4-1 win. Katie Jones had one of her better games this season posting two goals on the night, while Kelly Meech recorded the game-winner at the 11:59 mark of the final period. Laurie Petchar added an empty net goal to seal the win.

Goalie Tinna-Anne Thibideau posted 18 saves in the win. Both teams had 19 shots on goal for the game.


Wayne State Loses At Colgate

The Wayne State women's hockey team fell to Colgate, 2-1, on Friday night (Nov. 16) in Hamilton, N.Y. The Warriors are now 2-8-1 on the year. The two teams will conclude the weekend series with a 4 p.m. game on Saturday.

All the scoring came in the third period as WSU struck first with a Cheralyn Anderson goal just 18 seconds into the stanza. Colgate would get two goals in the final eight minutes to seal the contest and improve their record to 3-3-1.

Warriors Visits Children's Hospital

Nicole MontalbanoThe Wayne State women's hockey team visited the Children's Hospital of Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 6, donating coloring books and crayons that were collected during the first home series of the season.

Sophomores Anna VanderMarliere, Kelly Meech and Katie Jones, along with assistant coaches Alain Frankiewicz and Catherine Hanson, visited with Nicole Montalbano of Bloomfield Hills (pictured).
