WSU Women Sweep Its Competition
At Cleveland State Meet

The Wayne State University women's fencing team won all three of its matches at the Cleveland State University Fencing Invitational held on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the CSU ISC Dome.

The Warriors defeated the host Vikings (17-10), Case Western Reserve (19-8) and Detroit (19-6).

Senior Melanie Duda (Livonia, MI) led the Warriors in the Sabre competition with a perfect 9-0 record. Freshman Jinelle Lawson (Sand Creek, MI) had an 8-1 mark, while senior Lesley Washburn (Detroit, MI) had a 7-2 record.

In the Foil competition, senior Inga Wallrabenstein (Osnabrueck, Germany) had a perfect 9-0 record.

Freshman Anna Vinnivov (Ma'alot, Israel) led the Warriors in the Epée competition with a record of 9-0. Senior Amanda Collins (Yale, MI) had an 8-1 mark, while junior Sarah Murray (Livonia, MI) had a 5-4 record.

The Warriors will next be in action on Saturday, Feb. 2 when Detroit Mercy hosts the Central Duals Meet at Calihan Hall.
