Warriors Open 2002 Season

The Wayne State University women's cross country team competed in the Mt. Van Hoevenburg Invitational in Lake Placid, New York, on Saturday, Aug. 31. No team scores were kept.

Sixth-year head coach Rick Cummins' squad was led by senior Shelly Vickery (Berkley, MI), who completed the 5k course in 18:22. She was followed by junior Amy Averill (Detroit, MI/Southfield Christian) in a time of 19:05; senior Jennifer Furlong (Livonia, MI/Franklin) in a time of 19:23; junior Rachel Campbell (Sterling Hts., MI/Stevenson) in a time of 20:02; senior Lynn Moore (Warren, MI/Cousino) in a time of 20:21; freshman Melissa Moncion (Washington, MI/Romeo) in a time of 20:40.

Also competing for WSU were freshman Stephanie Sayler (Romeo, MI) with a time of 21:16; senior Rebecca Bobier (Clawson, MI) and sophomore Erin Porter (Windsor, ONT/Kennedy C.I.) both had a time of 23:25.

The Warriors next race is Sept. 7 when they compete in the Tommy Titan Invitational.
