Warrior Women Running Up The Polls

DETROIT – After having one of its most successful weekends ever, the Warrior women’s cross country team moved up four spots to No. 11 in the latest national rankings, released Sept. 30. Wayne State also moved up one position to third in the Great Lakes Region.

Western State (CO) was bumped out of the nation’s top spot by Adams State (CO) for the first time all season.

The Warriors finished fifth overall at the 29th Annual Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh UniversityWSU was the highest placing Division II team at the race and was led by Shelly Vickery’s school record mark of 21:50.99 in the 6k race. Vickery crossed the line in 11th place overall.

The Warriors next competition is Oct. 5 at the Cardinal Cross Country Classic hosted by the University of Louisville.
