Warriors Fall At Northwood In Three

Facing the 18th-ranked team in NCAA Division II, the Wayne State Warrior volleyball team struggled hitting and lost at Northwood 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-26) on Saturday, Sept. 21. The Warriors had a combined hitting percentage of .082, a season-low, compared to the Timberwolves’ .327.

Northwood owned a 49-25 advantage in the kill column, with Sladjana Vasiljevic tallying a match-high 14.

Megan Smolen led the Warriors with seven while Allison Jurasek, Jaime Banners and Darcie Amsdill put down five kills apiece.

Banners recorded four of the Warriors’ six service aces and had six digs on the day.

The win was Northwood’s 10th straight and brings its record to 15-1, 3-0 GLIAC while Wayne State drops to 10-3 and 2-1 in conference play. The Warriors continue on a three-week road trip Friday, Sept. 27 at Findlay.
