April 12, 2002 Jin Named Head Volleyball Coach DETROIT Wayne State University Director of Athletics Rob Fournier announced today the hiring of Limin Jin (Lee-mean Gene) as the Warriors head volleyball coach.
He began his coaching career in the United States as a graduate assistant at the University of Kansas in 1991. After a two-year stint with the Jayhawks, he served four years (1993-96) as an assistant coach at William and Mary. His first head coaching job was at Maryland-Eastern Shore in 1997. In two seasons with the Hawks, he compiled a 19-28 record. While at California University, Jin gave the student-athletes an international style of play accompanied with a dedication to scholastic endeavors. The Vulcans team GPA was 3.70 for the second year in a row. He graduated in 1986 from Hangzhou University in China with bachelors degree in Physical Education and Sports Medicine. Jin received his masters degree in 1989 from Shanghai Norm University in Coaching and Sports Management. He and his wife, Ling Yan, have one son, Jennings, and one daughter, Mae. |
