Wayne State Volleyball Drops Another Detroit, Mich. - The Wayne State volleyball team dropped another close five-game match to Mercyhurst on Saturday night, falling to the Lakers 30-28, 18-30, 31-29, 22-30, 5-15. The Warriors are now 5-19 overall, 1-13 in the GLIAC, while Mercyhurst improves to 18-15, 9-7. Category leaders for Wayne include, sophomore Nicole Salisbury (Bedford), who led the squad with 15 kills. Senior Anavia McClure (Detroit/Henry Ford) posted 14 kills, while junior Jaime Banners (Shelby Twp.) added 10 kills. Sophomore Rebecca Hague (Leamington, Ontario) recorded a team-high 38 assists, while Salisbury led Wayne with 18 digs. Hague also had three service aces. The Wayne State volleyball team dropped a close, hard fought, five-game decision to Gannon University (Pa.) on Friday night at theMatthaei Building, which included a heart-breaking 22-20 score in the final game. The Warriors, who fell 22-30, 32-30, 30-28, 27-30, 20-22, drop to 5-18 overall, 1-12 in the GLIAC. Statistically, the match was very even as sophomore Nicole Salisbury (Bedford) led the Warriors with 19 kills, while senior Anavia McClure (Detroit/Henry Ford) posted 17 kills. Junior Jaime Banners (Shelby Twp./Eisenhower) also had double-digit kills with 13. Sophomore Rebecca Hague (Leamington, Ontario) recorded 45 assists, while Salisbury and McClure each had 17 digs apiece. The Warriors also had an impressive 18 block assists with freshman Missy Mohrbach (Bedford) leading the way with seven total blocks (three solo, four assisted).
