Game one turned into a pitchers dual as junior Connie Milroth (St. Clair Shores/Lakeview) battled against FSU’s Amanda Opbroek. Milroth would come out victorious with her 12th victory of the season (12-5), giving up just one unearned run off five hits, while striking out nine. The Warriors would go up 1-0 in the first off an RBI single by sophomore Maria D’Agostino (Wixom/Walled Lake Western). Ferris State would respond with a run in the second, however, sophomore Beth Berry (Blissfield) would hit a two RBI single in the fifth inning to put WSU up for good, 3-1. Berry finished the game two-for-two with a pair of RBIs. Sophomore Johanna Proulx (Brampton, Ontario) also went 2 for 3 in the win.

In game two, the offense picked up in the third inning as Berry struck again with a two RBI double that scored senior Kelly Kashmerick (Flushing) and freshman Jenna McWilliams (Tecumseh). D’Agostino would add an RBI double that scored Berry and put WSU up 3-0. Sophomore Lindsay Sammut (New Baltimore/Lakeview) put on the finishing touches in the third by hitting a three-run homer that gave the Warriors a decisive 6-0 advantage. It was Sammut’s first collegiate home run.

Junior Amy Thiede got the game two victory, improving to 8-6 on the year. Thiede allowed just three hits the entire game, while striking out two. Sammut went 1 for 3, while D’Agostino finished with a 2 for 3 performance.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday, April 26 when they host Lake Superior State in a GLIAC doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
