Warriors Finish Third The Wayne State University men's tennis team defeated Michigan Tech, 5-0, on Saturday, April 20 to finish third at the 2002 GLIAC Championship. Rohan Singh (Dearborn, MI/Edsel Ford) was voted to the All-GLIAC First Team, while Mikolaj Pontus (Gibraltar, MI/Carlson) and Mike Davis (Ferndale, MI/Almont) earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors. Hormis Tharakan (Ottawa, ONT/Brookfield) and Lech Czerwinski (Birmingham, MI/Seaholm) were named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention squad. In the triumph over the Huskies, WSU won all three doubles matches. Mike Davis (Ferndale, MI/Almont) and Pontus teamed for an 8-1 win at first doubles. Singh and Czerwinski were 8-4 victors at second doubles, while Tharakan and Matt Akers (Mt. Clemens, MI/L'Anse Creuse Central) won 8-4 at third doubles. Singh won at first singles, 7-5, 7-5, while Davis was a 6-2, 6-4 victor at second singles. Pontus won 7-6, 6-4 at third singles.
