The Wayne State University men's tennis team will battle Michigan Tech for third place in the GLIAC Tournament on Saturday, April 20.

The Warriors defeated Lake Superior, 5-1, in the opening round on Friday, April 19 in Midland, Mich. In the second round, WSU fell to Ferris State, 5-3.

Wayne State had victories in singles play over the Lakers by Rohan Singh (Dearborn, MI/Edsel Ford) at No. 1 (6-1, 6-2), Mikolaj Pontus (Gibraltar, MI/Carlson) at No. 3 (6-1, 6-0), and Hormis Tharakan (Ottawa, ONT/Brookfield) at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0).

The Warriors recorded doubles wins at No. 1 by Mike Davis (Ferndale, MI/Almont) and Pontus (8-4), and at No. 2 by Lech Czerwinski (Birmingham, MI/Seaholm) and Singh (8-3).

Against the Bulldogs, WSU's lone doubles win came at No. 2 by Czerwinski and Singh (8-2).

Wayne State's two singles triumphs were by Davis at No. 2 (6-4, 6-4), and Matt Akers (Mt. Clemens, MI/L'Anse Creuse Central) at No. 6 (6-4, 6-3).
