Head Coach Rick Cummins
Cummins enters his sixth year coaching at Wayne State. Before taking over the reigns of the cross country program, Cummins was a womens basketball assistant coach for two years (1997-1999). Cummins comments: "I love coaching at Wayne State. We have a great academic institution and an athletic program with high expectations. At WSU a student-athlete can prosper in a world class academic environment and excel in a quality athletic program." Cummins has had coaching experience at many levels in many sports. He coached in the high school ranks at Bishop Redford Borgess (1994-1996). He was the junior varsity and freshmen womens basketball coach for two years and also an assistant varsity softball coach. Cummins coached at the University of Michigan Dearborn where he was assistant womens basketball coach from 1993-1996. Cummins received his Bachelors degree in philosophy from the University of Michigan in 1994. He received his Masters degree from WSU in Sports Administration in 1996. Cummins and his wife, Dorene, have two children, Karlie (4) and Easton (2). |
