Fakler Named Volunteer
Men’s Hockey Coach At Wayne State

DETROIT  – Wayne State University Director of Athletics Rob Fournier announced the addition of Marc Fakler as the Warriors men’s hockey volunteer coach.

Fakler joins the Wayne State staff after serving the last two seasons as assistant general manager and assistant coach of the North American Hockey League’s Detroit Compuware Junior A team.

The Ambassadors finished first in the NAHL last year with 42-9-5 regular-season record, and won both the NAHL Playoff Championship and the U.S. Junior A National Championship.

He has also served the last four years as the Assistant Director and Lead Instructor at the Compuware Ambassadors Summer Hockey School

He began his coaching career with the Grand Rapids Owls Junior B team in 1999.

A participant on the 1998-99 Western Michigan University hockey team, Fakler completed his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Eastern Michigan this past summer.

Fakler, an Ann Arbor native, played junior hockey for the Grand Rapids BearCats and the Danville Wings of the North American Hockey League and the Petrolia Jets of the Western Ontario Junior Hockey League.
