Wayne State Drops Two To Ferris State The Wayne State men's hockey team opened the 2001-02 season by dropping a pair of games to Ferris State on Oct. 12-13. The Warriors fell to the Bulldogs 5-2 on Friday and 5-0 on Saturday. On Friday, the Warriors received goals from junior Tyler Kindle (Portage) and junior Dusty Kingston (Spencerville, Ontario) with Kindle's goal coming in the second period and Kingston's in the third. Ferris State outshot the Warriors by a slim 26-23 margin, but it would not be enough. Junior Dave Guerrera (St. Leonards, Quebec) stopped 21 shots, while allowing four goals in net for Wayne State (one came on an empty net with 55 seconds left in the game). In game two on Saturday, Ferris dominated much of the game by outshooting the Warriors 37-23 in the 5-0 win. Guerrera posted 32 saves in goal, while Kindle racked up four total shots on net to lead the team. The Warriors continue their season on Oct. 19-20 (Friday-Saturday) when they travel to Big 10 foe Wisconsin in Madison. Both games will start at 7 p.m. and be broadcast locally in Wisconsin on Fox Sports Net. |
