Nine members of the 2001-2002 Wayne State University men's hockey team were selected to the College Hockey America (CHA) All-Academic squad.

To be eligible for CHA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least one year of residency at the institution, have a grade-point average of 3.00 (4.00 scale) for the previous two semesters, or qualify with a cumulative 3.00 GPA.

Representing Wayne State were juniors Jon Brink (Portage, MI/West Michigan Warriors), David Guerrera (St. Leonard, QUE/Estevan Bruins), Tyler Kindle (Portage, MI/Bozeman Icedogs), Dustin Kingston (Spencerville, ONT/Brockville Braves), John MacAdam (Morell, PEI/Charlottetown Abbies), Brent Renfrew
(Fairbanks, AK/Soo Indians), Maxim Starchenko (Kharkov, Ukraine/Powell River Kings), redshirt sophomore David Noble (Pocasset, MA/Billings Bulls), and sophomore Travis Rycroft (Penticton, BC/Merritt Centennials).

All seven of the WSU juniors who made the squad this year are repeat selections. The Warriors tied for second in the CHA with nine honorees.

Wayne State finished the season with a 21-11-4 overall record and won the 2001-02 CHA regular-season title with a conference mark of 15-2-3.
