Warriors Post 3-0 Record The Wayne State University men's fencing team won all three of its matches at the Cleveland State University Fencing Invitational held on Saturday (Jan. 26) at the CSU ISC Dome. The Warriors defeated the host Vikings (19-8), Case Western Reserve (17-10) and Detroit (22-5). Sophomore Marc Mathias (Mishawaka, IN) and senior Jakub Krochmalski (Lodz, Poland) each recorded 8-1 marks in the Sabre. Sophomore Chris Williams (Detroit, MI) had a 6-3 record in the Sabre. In the Foil competition, senior Ian Chapp (Detroit, MI) had an 8-1 record, while seniors Jason Jopek (Westland, MI) and Rex Briones (Livonia, MI) had 7-2 and 4-5 records, respectively. Freshman Wojciech Dudek (Krakow, Poland) led the Warriors in the Epée competition with a record of 8-1. Junior Jason Murdoch (Waterford, MI) had a 6-3 mark, while junior Stephen Briesmeister (Clinton Twp., MI) had a 2-5 record. Sophomore Patrick Hanley (Redford, MI) went 1-1 in his two matches. |
