Fencers Finish 10th
at NCAA Championships

At the NCAA Championships held at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside this past weekend (March 21-24), the Warriors finished 10th out of 28 schools.

With only four competitors, Wayne State finished with 58 points. St. John’s University, who had two complete teams at the competition, finished first with 180 points.

Individually the Warriors were equally impressive as all four competitors earned All-American honors. Receiving first team All-American honors was junior Jakub Krochmalski (Detroit, MI) as he finished third in the sabre.

Sophomore Axel Kruwel earned honorable mention All-American honors as he finished ninth in the epee. On the women’s side, freshman Inga Wallrabenstein finished fifth in the foil to earn second team All-American honors as senior Marta Sciubisz finished tenth in the epee to earn honorable mention All-American honors.

Last year, Wayne State University finished in 16th place and captured two All-American honors.
