WSU Men's & Women's Cross County Ranked 12th in Nation

DETROIT – The Wayne State men’s and women’s cross country teams are both ranked 12th in the country in the 2002 preseason Division II coaches poll, released Sept. 9. Defending National Champion Western State (CO) is the top-ranked team in both polls.

The men’s squad is coming off their 2001 campaign where they finished 11th in the nation. For the women, it is the first time they’ve been nationally ranked in their 10-year history.

Regionally, the men are second while Ashland is the top Great Lakes Region team and the Warrior women are third behind Grand Valley and Northern Michigan.

Wayne State’s next action is Sept. 21 at the Midwest Collegiate Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis. Click here for or complete poll results.
