Michael G. Horn Horn earned four varsity mens golf letters in the 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1986 seasons. During his four years, Horn was named co-captain once (1984) and team captain twice (1985, 1986). In 1986 he also earned Division II District IV All-American honors and was a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Scholar Athlete. He also was a two-time All-GLIAC selection. In the 1985 season, Horn finished the season with the best stroke average on the team (76.00) and was a medalist in three tournaments. Horn won the Wayne State University tournament, the Oakland Invitational and the GLIAC Championship. In 1986, Horn participated in the NCAA Championships while also winning the Aquinas Classic, Bay Valley Invitational and the St. Clair College Invitational. He finished the season again with the best average (77.29), while earning all-conference honors. Also that season, Horn participated in the NCAA Division II Championships where he tied for 72nd place. He continued his excellence in golf after graduation as he was ranked third in the State Publinx rankings in 1987, and was named to the State Publinx All-State teams in 1987 and 1988. In addition, he was a four-time Michigan-Amateur qualifier and a three-time Michigan Open qualifier. After graduating from Wayne State University in 1986 with a degree in Marketing Sales Management, Horn worked for Blockbuster Entertainment as a regional manager for 10 years. He currently works for Dynamic Supplies in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, as well as being part owner of the "Golf Doctors" - a custom golf clubs, accessories and repair business. Michael and his wife, Kimberlei, have one son (Dillon -7) and live in Allen Park, Michigan. He is also the current head coach of WSUs mens golf program. |
