WSU Hall of Fame Nominations Sought

The Wayne State University Athletic Department is accepting nominations for its Athletic Hall of Fame. To be considered for induction into the class of 2003, nominations are needed by September 30.

Individuals may be considered for their contributions while competing for WSU, while others may be evaluated on their athletic endeavors after departing the University. To be considered, a student-athlete must have completed his or her eligibility during or before the 1992-1993 academic year (10 years ago).

Nominations may be mailed to Allison Tookes, Athletic Department, Wayne State University, 5101 John C. Lodge, 101 Matthaei, Detroit, MI 48202. Those who would prefer to send their nominations electronically should send their nominations via e-mail to a.tookes@wayne.edu. For further information, please call Allison Tookes at (313) 577-4280.

Four To Be Inducted Into WSU Hall Of Fame
Ceremonies set for Feb. 16

DETROIT – The Wayne State University Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome four new members on Feb. 16, WSU Director of Athletics Rob Fournier has announced. The 2002 class will be inducted during a luncheon at St. Andrews in Detroit.

The class of 2002 will include tennis player James P. Hayes '61, football coach Richard Lowry, cross country and track coach Frank McBride, and track runner Elliot Tabron. (Select each name for more information about the inductees.)

The official induction ceremony will take place Saturday, Feb. 16 in St. Andrews. The reception begins at 11:00 a.m. with lunch served at 11:30 a.m. and the program starting shortly thereafter.

In addition, the class will be introduced at halftime of the Feb. 16 men’s basketball game against Ashland.

Tickets for the Feb. 16 luncheon can be purchased at the Matthaei Complex for $35 and advance reservations are required. The public is invited to attend the induction luncheon.
