Warriors Finished Tied For 12th The Wayne State University men's golf team finished in a 12th-place tie at the 2002 NCAA Great Lakes Region Fall tournament held at Blackberry Patch Golf Course in Coldwater, Mich., on Sept. 21-22. The Warriors were tied-for-fifth after the first day with a team score of 307. WSU had a 320 on Sunday to finish with a 627. Leading Wayne State was freshman Jacob Abramson (St. Clair, Mich.). Abramson tied-for-eighth with a 150 (74-76). He was followed by classmate Nate Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron), who shot a 157 (75-82) to tie for 35th place. Also competing for the Warriors were Blake Johnson (St. Clair Shores, Mich./South Lake), who tied for 72nd with a 162 (80-82); freshman Chris Hill (Sarnia, Ont./St. Patrick's), who tied for 79th with a 164 (78-86); and senior Kyle Gierada (Canton, Mich./Westland John Glenn), who tied for 89th at 167 (87-80). Wayne State's next tournament is Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 28-29 when it competes in the Bay Valley Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley State University. |
