WSU Finishes Ninth
At GLIAC Champioinship

The Wayne State University men's golf team finished in ninth place (out of 12 teams) at the 2002 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship held Oct. 5-6 at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.

Northwood won the team title with a 908, and was followed by Grand Valley (912), Findlay (923), Ferris State (932), Saginaw Valley (938), Grannon (940), Ashland (962), Lake Superior (964), WAYNE STATE (973), Mercyhurst (995), Hillsdale (996) and Northern Michigan (1017).

Leading the Warriors was freshman Jacob Abramson (St. Clair, Mich.), who placed 15th with a 54-hole total of 233 (77-83-73). Rookie Nate Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) tied-for-30th at 241 (79-82-80), while junior Blake Johnson (St. Clair Shores, Mich./South Lake) tied-for-42nd at 248 (81-79-88).

Also competing for WSU were sophomore Nick Junttila (Calumet, Mich.) and freshman Chris Hill (Sarnia, Ont./St. Patrick's). Junttila placed 49th with a 253 (83-85-85), while Hill was 53rd at 258 (87-84-87).

The conference championship concludes the squad's fall season.
