WSU Listed Among NCAA Leaders Eight Wayne State players are listed this week in the NCAA statistics. The Warriors are listed in turnover margin in the team statistics. Wayne State senior Thabiti Williamson (Ann Arbor, MI/Huron) is ranked tied-for-32nd in NCAA Division II football in kickoff return average at 26.00. All three of his kickoff returns came at Findlay. Sophomore place-kicker Stephen Wayne (Farmington, Mich.) is tied-for-eighth nationally in field goals made per game at 1.50. Junior punter Adam Nemer-Kaiser (Sterling Hts., Mich.), who missed last week's game at Findlay with an injury, is ranked 24th in the country in punting. He averaged 41.45 yards per punts, in 11 attempts, at Northern Iowa. Sophomore cornerback Alvin Mask (Lansing, MI/Sexton) is tied-for-11th nationally in interceptions per game at 1.00. He has one "pick" in each game this season. Senior safety Qasim Basir (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) is tied-for-19th in total tackles per game at 12. He did not play at Findlay due to an injury. Sophomore cornerback Earl Carruthers (Waterford, Mich./Mott) and sophomore linebacker Mike Macek (Redford, Mich./Union) are both tied-for-33rd in Division II in solo tackles per game at 6.00. Freshman defensive end Leo Wells (Detroit, Mich./Hamtramck) is tied-for-21st nationally in sacks per game at 1.50. Wells has three solo sacks in two games. He is also tied-for-19th in the country in tackles for loss per game at 2.5 (one for solo, 1/2 for assist). Wells has four solo tackles behind the line of scrimmage and two assisted tackles for loss this season. The Warriors are tied-for-19th in turnover margin at 1.50 per game. WSU has recovered three opponent fumbles plus intercepted three passes, while losing three fumbles this year. |
