Pre-season Practice Begins DETROIT Preseason practice for the Wayne State University football team began Saturday, Aug. 10. A team orientation meeting was held on Friday, Aug. 9, following physicals. Third-year Warrior head coach Steve Kazor welcomed over 50 student-athletes, both incoming freshmen and junior college transfers, to the program. With 60 veterans returning as well, Coach Kazor and staff have over 110 student-athletes vying for a spot on the roster. Tickets for the five-game 2002 home schedule, which includes games against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents Grand Valley State, Ashland, Northern Michigan, Mercyhurst, and Saginaw Valley State, are currently on sale at the Athletic Ticket Office in the Matthaei Center, by calling (866) WSU-TIKS. GVSU is the national pre-season No. 1 team in the country, while SVSU was selected second by the GLIAC Coaches in its preseason poll.
