WSU's Pierre Brown Signs With Lions
The 6-1, 180-pound native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Pierre was voted WSU's Most Valuable Player on offense for 2001. He had 57 receptions for 953 yards and 11 touchdowns with a long of 62 yards. Brown also returned one kickoff for 22 yards and one punt for three yards. Pierre had four catches for 42 yards in the 2002 Whataburger Cactus Bowl played in Kingsville, Texas on Jan. 11. In 2000, Brown had 66 receptions, for a school-record 1,492 yards and 17 touchdowns. His long of 96 yards came on Oct. 14 against Hillsdale. He finished that game with 10 catches for 232 yards and three scores. For the 2000 campaign, he earned First Team All-GLIAC, Second Team All-Northeast Region, and Third Team AP All-American honors. Brown led NCAA Division II in receiving yards per game (149.2), while leading the GLIAC in receiving yards per game and scoring touchdowns. He also had nine games with 100+ receiving yards. As a sophomore in 1999, Pierre had 533 yards on 31 catches with nine touchdowns on his way to earning All-GLIAC Honorable Mention accolades. In his first year at Wayne State, Brown had nine receptions for 160 yards. He finished his Warrior career with a 163 receptions for 3,138 yards and 37 touchdowns.
