Brown Posts Four Catches At Cactus Bowl Wayne State senior wide receiver Pierre Brown (W. Bloomfield, MI) had four catches for 42 yards in the East's 42-12 win over the West in the 2002 Cactus Bowl played in Kingsville, Texas on Jan. 11. With the East leading 14-10, Brown hauled in two six-yard passes from Todd Cunningham, sandwiched around another completion, to set up Dorrian Glen's three-yard touchdown run. Earlier in the second quarter, Brown had an eight-yard reception. On the East's squad second drive of the third quarter, Brown had a 22-yard catch on second and 10 moving the ball across midfield. Brown wore #3 for the victorious East team.
The Cactus Bowl, formerly known as the Snow Bowl, will be held in Javelina Stadium on the campus of Texas A & M University-Kingsville. An East/West format will be used and teams will be comprised of Division II Players. Brown led the Warriors in receptions (57), receiving yards (953), touchdowns (11) and scoring (66) this past season. For his WSU career, Brown recorded 3,138 receiving yards on 163 catches for an average of 19.3 yards per catch. He also finished with 37 touchdowns and had a long of 96 yards as a junior against Hillsdale. |
