Wayne Named GLIAC Player-Of-The-Week Wayne State Pulls Out Victory at Ashland
The Warriors winning drive began at its own 20-yard line, after an Eagle punt went for a touchback. Displaying its hurry-up offense, every Warriors play was a pass. Sophomore quarterback Dan Gray (Belle River, ONT/District) completed four of seven attempts. Two went to senior wide receiver Pierre Brown (West Bloomfield, MI) for 18 and 14 yards. The latter set-up Waynes field goal attempt to win the game. Wayne State took an early lead in the game when Brown caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Jason Charron (Clinton Township, MI/Clintondale). WSU led 6-3 with 9:29 remaining in the first quarter. Browns second TD grab of nine yards from Gray with 1:43 remaining in the third quarter again put WSU in the lead, 16-13.
