The Wayne State University football team finished its season Saturday, Nov. 11 against Northwood University. The Warriors lost 62-28. The Warriors finished with a record of 4-6 overall and 4-6 in the GLIAC. This was WSU’s best record since 1994. Below are WSU’s major contributor’s this season.

Thabiti Williamson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) - The sophomore running back had 204 carries for 1,266 yards and five touchdowns. Williamson is the first running back to rush for 1,000 yards since 1994. He had 34 catches for 245 yards and one touchdown. Williamson gained 2,128 all-purpose yards this season.

Pierre Brown (West Bloomfield, Mich.) - A junior wide receiver, Brown had 66 catches for 1,492 yards and 17 touchdowns. Brown had nine carries for 53 yards and one touchdown. Brown is the first WSU receiver to gain 1,000 yards receiving to a single season. Brown has 2,186 career yards which is second on WSU’s list. Brown had 100 or more receiving yards in every contest this season. Brown had a 96-yard touchdown reception against Hillsdale.

Jason Charron (Clinton Township, Mich./Clintondale) - Junior quarterback passed for 2,385 yards this season with 21 touchdowns. Charron is second on WSU’s single-season list for passing yards and is the single season leader in total offense. Charron is the first quarterback to throw over 2,000 yards since. He was named GLIAC player of the week for the week of October 2.

Brandon Brown (Compton, CA) - The junior wide receiver had 28 catches for 542 yards and four touchdowns. Brown averaged 19.4 ypc. and 60.2 yards per game. Brown was second on the team in receiving yards and also was third in catches.

Huston Julian (Roseville, Mich.) - A senior tight end, Julian had 27 catches for 379 yards and three touchdowns. Julian averaged 14.0 yards per catch and 37.9 ypg. Julian also had six tackles.

Brett Warkentien (East China, Mich./Marine City) - The senior wingback had 16 catches for 228 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 14.3 ypc. and 22.8 ypg.

celebrationJeff Roeschke (Utica, Mich.) - Sophomore punter/ running back had 54 punts for 1,798 yards. He averaged 33.3 ypp. and had a long of 53 yards. Roeschke had four fair catches and eight punts inside the 20 yard line. Roeschke had 33 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Roeschke caught two passes for 28 yards. He had seven tackles and one tackle for loss

Dan Gray (Belle River, Ontario/District) - A freshman quarterback, Gray passed for 683 yards and six touchdowns. He had a long of 70 yards and averaged 85.4 ypg.

J. L. Holdsworth (Big Rapids, Mich.) - The senior running back/linebacker had 23 carries for 92 yards . He averaged 4.0 ypc. and had a long of 14 yards. Holdsworth had nine tackles and one tackle for loss.

Matt Pomeroy (Dearborn, Mich.) - A freshman kicker connected on 3 of 8 field goals this season. He had a long of 38 yards against Indianapolis. Pomeroy connected on 27 of 34 extra points.

Roger White (Sterling Heights, Mich./De LaSalle) - The freshman receiver had 196 total yards this season. He had 142 yards in kickoff returns. White averaged 17.8 yards per return with a long of 32 yards.

Sal Warner (Utica, Mich.) - Senior safety led the team with 81 tackles and seven tackles for loss and one pass breakup.

Joe Spuhler (Macomb, Mich./Henry Ford) - A junior linebacker, Spuhler had 56 tackles on the season with 11 tackles for loss. Spuhler had one sack, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery.

Derrick Thomas (Belleville, Mich.) - The sophomore safety had 51 tackles and six tackles for loss. Thomas had two interceptions and three pass breakups and also one field goal block. Thomas was named GLIAC player of the week for the of October 30.

Greg Smith (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) - A junior defensive lineman, Smith had 44 ta ckles on the season and nine tackles for loss. Smith had two sacks and two pass breakups.

Tim Homrich (Maybee, Mich./Dundee) - The senior defensive end had 43 tackles and 17 tackles for loss. Homrich had nine sacks and two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. Homrich has 39 tackles for loss in his career.

Shaun Black (Detroit, Mich.) - Senior defensive back had 41 tackles , three interceptions and 15 pass breakups. Black led the GLIAC in passes defended.

WSU FootballDaniel Stuckey (Cummings, GA/Versailles Central) - A junior linebacker, Stuckey had 41 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, five passes defended, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. Stuckey had a 22 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Taiwan Brown (Detroit, Mich./Chadsey) -The sophomore linebacker had 41 tackles and eight tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble.

Jason Carpenter (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt) - A senior defensive lineman, Carpenter had 39 tackles and 12 tackles for loss, six sacks, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry, one fumble recovery. Carpenter had a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown against Ferris State.

Dave Donaldson (Marine City, Mich.) - Senior defensive end had 34 tackles with seven tackles for loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery.

Sterling Walker (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) - The sophomore defensive back has 31 tackles, with two for loss, one interception and seven pass breakups. Walker also returned punts for the Warriors returning six punts for 170 yards. Walker had a 91 yard punt return for a touchdown against Indianapolis. He was named special teams GLIAC player of the week for the week of October 30.

Jamie Carpenter (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt) - A senior safety, Carpenter had 29 tackles, one tackle for loss and one interception.

Ed Youngs (Hastings, Mich) - The junior linebacker had 27 tackles, four for loss and one interception. Youngs also had two pass breakups.

Dave Tatti (Port Huron, Mich.) - Junior linebacker had 22 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack and one forced fumble.
