WSU Has Three Football Players Named All-GLIAC

Wayne State's football team is still reaping the benefits of their successful 2000 season with three players being named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic All-Conference Team.

Junior wide receiver Pierre Brown (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and sophomore running back Thabiti Williamson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) were each named to the All-GLIAC first team. Brown finished the 2000 season with 1,492 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. He was the first WSU receiver to break 1,000 yards in a single-season. Williamson rushed for 1,266 yards and five touchdowns. Williamson finished with 2,128 all-purpose yards.

Senior defensive end Tim Homrich (Maybee, Mich./Dundee) was named second team All-GLIAC. Homrich had 43 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and nine sacks this season.

The Warriors also had five players named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.

  • Sophomore, offensive lineman, Brandon Evans (Westfield, TX)
  • Senior, tight end, Huston Julian (Roseville, Mich.)
  • Junior, linebacker, Daniel Stuckey (Cummings, GA)
  • Sophomore, safety, Derrick Thomas (Belleville, Mich.)
  • Senior, safety, Sal Warner (Utica, Mich.)

Wayne State University finished with a 4-6 overall record and a 4-6 GLIAC record this past season. This was the Warriors best record since 1994 (6-5).
